How to Save the World
Prolouge
I used to be normal. I used to be back on Earth. I want to go back, but I can’t. Not at the moment anyways. I can’t see my family, or my friends. All I knowis that they’re all most likely dead.Vermin of the Stars did this. But they are gone now. All that’s left is our troop. But half of them are dead. I was looking outside of our hangar, looking at the Earth. Well, what was left of it. I looked behind me, Rocco and Sera were staring at me, waiting for me to say something. “Cat, I know you miss Steph and Grey, but you need to forget about it. They probably are gone.” mumbled Rocco. I couldn’t help but to lower my head and cry. Sera gave Rocco a stern look, and came over to comfort me. “Cat, they had a low chance of living, but people die, and you know it. You’re lucky that WE are still alive.” Sera tried to comfort me but it just wouldn’t work. Scarr walked into the room and sighed. “You guys, the pod is launching soon. Even though we lost our troop, we should be fine on this planet.” he announced.”Did you make sure that there weren’t any more Vermin, Scarr?” asked Rocco. Scarr nodded silently. Sera walked me over to Scarr, who put his arm around me and led me out.
Chapter 1: The First Warning.
Scientist had studied alien activities and space for a long time now. None of them were able to find proof of this, only possiblities. Fake videos on the internet sure did fool some peoplemy age, but I wasn’t tricked. I was headed down to the store to buy a few groceries, when I saw a flyer up in the window. It read: Space as we know it, or do we? Lately we have found proof that aliens do exist, head down to the local Space Center to learn more. Signups at 2:00 P.M. That was in 15 minutes. I bit my lip and felt bitter. I should go down there and give them a piece of my mind. As I was heading down the street I saw a flash in the sky. I probably just caught a ray of sunlight on my glasses, so I continued on.
At the Space Center, I ran into a friend of mine from school, Steph. “Steph, what are you doing here?! This is probably just a fraud!” I said impatiently. “Cat, you and your beliefs.” She said sarcastically. “This is actually pretty real, come look at this tank over here.” Steph grabbed my arm and led me toward a crowd of people. “… and this is certain proof that aliens DO exist. We were able to capture a live alien, and figure out how to translate their language.” said the announcer. I read his nametag, and it said Scarr. Peculiar name… I thought. Steph’s eyes widened. I followed her gaze to see a large tank with a body in it - ad it definetly WASN’T human. Steph and I walked over to get a closer look but a man not much older than us practically knocked us over.”Oh god, I’m so sorry!” he apoligized. “Whoa, you’re pretty strong for a… err.. 18 year old?” Steph murmured. The man nodded. “Hey, want to go to the cafe here? They serve great cappuchinos.” He said sheepishly. “Oh, and my name’s Tony.” He showed a big grin. “I’m Steph, and this is my friend Cat.” Steph replied. I nodded and looked around nervously. This guy could lift a tank if he wanted to. Steph, Tony and I started to walk over to the Cafe. “I heard they are taking sign-ups in a few minutes, you guys going to try out?” Tony asked cheerfully. Steph nodded and smiled really big. “How about you Cat?” He shifted his gaze from her to me. As I was about to open my mouth there was a loud crash in the lobby. Tony and Steph looked outside the Cafe door. The smoke cleared away and there was a huge rock, no.. a pod. two long wires slipped out and a giant spider-like robot crawled out and headed for the tank with the alien in it. The robot carved something into the floor, then disappeared into thin air, along with the ship. Tony, Steph and I ran out. Scarr and ten other people were crowded around the carving while everyone else stood back. We walked up to Scarr and looked at it too. To me, it looked like chicken scratching and circles. Scarr lifted his head, eyes filled with horror. “What does it say?” Steph asked nervously. Scarr looked up at us. “This is the first warning.”

Guys, I’m probably never gonna finish this story, so I’ll write the chapter of explained what happened to Steph and Grey, and I’ll explain the rest.
The Vermin had corned us, ready to strike. “Where are reinforcements?” I whispered. Those beady eyes kept staring at me, that green skin and black tentacles. This was more like a nightmare than anything. Grey started to reach his arm around me, and he looked me in the eyes. “Cat, I swear I’ll do anything to get us out of here, even if it means killing me. I won’t let you die.” I stuttered, “Grey-” But before I could finish he picked up the Rahemen Jewel and ran. “Hey Vermin! Come and get me!” Two of the Vermin started chasing after him. He wouldn’t make it if he didn’t find anywhere to hide. Still, he would have a low chance. The last vermin stood in front of us, and after staring I could recognize who it was. It was their princess, the vermin in the tank back at Earth. I stepped near her and she gave a low hiss. I remembered studying her before she was taken. “Steph, shoot her weak spot, now!” Steph grabbed the Ray Gun and shot in the heart of all the tentacles. She roared and screeched then blew up leaving gas and purple goo everywhere. “Come on, we need to get reinforcements to save Grey!” She stood still, not paying attention to me at all. “Steph come o-” I was interupted by roaring. It was a Warrior, come to rescue the princess. Oops. He took one look at me and shot those weird blue lazors from his eyes. Steph threw the gun at it and it landed between his eyes. It hissed and recoiled before picking it up. Not the best idea, Steph. He shot at her but she ran. She grabbed my arm and ran with me back toward Home Base. After a while, the Vermin still chasing us, we arrived. Scarr met us at the door with reinforcements, although they were supposed to be out training. Dj, Rocco and Sera were already inside as well. I was also surprised to see Lillie and Alex. While they were fighting outside, Alex, Dj, Sera and Lillie hugged Steph and I. “You’re alright! Thank god! Did Grey get back to you?”
I gotta finish this later since my mom’s being an arse. TBC.

‘Grey?” I asked. “He was supposed to come back?”
Blindfolded, he couldn’t see anything. “Where am I?” He felt a jab in his back and chattering of the vermin. “Ow, quit it!” “Maque! Maque!” Cheered the Vermin. Grey felt himself being tied up. “I hope Cat and Steph are okay…” Under him, he felt hot and warm. (The next few sentences will be translated to English) “The human who stole our precious jewel, who helped kill our beloved princess, and who also killed many warriors. Tonight, we will burn him, in out boiling pit of lava!” The leader’s gruff voice sounded. Cheers were heard. “Burn the human!” “Kill! Kill!” They stamped their feet on the ground in rhythm. When they all stopped, the leader yelled. “Let this human die!” Before he was dropped, Grey activated one of the bombs in his pocket. “Goodbye, Cat.” he cried. The memories of Cat were everywhere. When they first met, their first battle, their first kiss. Everything around him burned, and he screamed and yelled, then he went black. The vermin cheered, then the bomb exploded. Lava went crazy, blowing everywhere and wiping out all the vermin there. But, then it headed toward HomeBase. The lava crawled, and crawled.
“Sir, lava is heading right toward us! We have to take off now!” General Scar looked down at Rocco “Get everyone on board, now!” The reinforcements and gunmen got back on the ship, but before the doors shut, a warrior grabbed a few people, including Steph and Dj. “Steph!” I cried. I pushed the doors open. I could see the lava in the distance. Steph started jabbing the warrior, and Dj crawled up the tentacles and jumped onto the ship, then everyone besides Steph and someone else. The warrior hissed, it’s face bleeding purple goo. The lava was just a few yards away now, and the warrior must of saw it too. The doors closes. “Scar, open those doors! What about Grey and Steph? Open them now!” I screamed. “Cat, I give orders, I don’t take them!” He said sternly. I looked out the windows. The warrior was burning, along with Steph and the other person. The ship took off, leaving them burning, and Grey still gone. I ran into the main room and started to cry. I looked out the window, at the barren Earth. I used to be normal…
