When the World Stood Still
Chapter 1
I woke up to my clock ringing loud in my ears, enough to make a normal person deaf, but for me it just made me, the person that was on the top bunk, to fall to the floor head first screaming, “BAAAAAACON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!” waking everyone else up.
“SHUT UP ALREADY OK?” The cranky Speeder said, “THERE IS NO BACON IN HERE” Then Speeder slapped me until I was fully awake.
”Thanks I guess,” rubbing my face, “Ok guess I have to get in gear,” I said to myself still rubbing my face, I washed up, and then got my gear on. As I was walking back to my room the intercom came on, “ATTENTION! THERE IS AN EMERGANCY! NACHOS AND UMA HAVE GOTTEN IN A 10 MILES OF THE BASE, GET READY-” in mid sentance the anouncer was interupted by Pink Mafias “LISTEN UP YOU FOOLS! YOUR DEFENSE IS USELESS, GIVE UP NOW AND YOU MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE OF WINNING, IF YOU DONT, WE WILL NUKE THE WHOLE BASE KILLING ALL OF YOU! YOUR CHOICE!” In the background you could here laughing from the ACP soldiers then a few shots and no one was laughing, “That is nothing compared to what we will do if you don’t coperate, we will give you 3 days to decide the fate of the ACP, So long!” Everyone was silent… the silence was killing me inside, but I couldnt help it, it kept pulling on me, it was playing back in my mind to the very last second.
I walked to Matre’s office, I knocked on the door, “Come in Paint, I have been waiting for you,” Matre said to me as I was walking in.
”You were….waiting for me? What would you want me for?” I said to Matre.
”I will explain later, now, what did you come here for?” Matre began
”I think you know exactly why I came here, I need to ask you a few questions,” I replied
”Ahhhhhh… well there is no way to avoid war, that is a fact, we are currently trying to come up with a plan to take Pink Mafias and the Nacho Leader down,” He said “To avoid any possibilities, we have to end both armies permanetaly,”
“Yeah, well I need to ask you, How did Pink Mafias escape jail?! How come none of you even told any of us? Have you been keeping this a secret? WHY?!” I said angrily
”We didn’t find out he escaped until last night actually, we found guards around his cell dead, and that…somehow…. the bars were torn apart….”
“I find this useless… so why were you waiting for me anyways?” I said finnaly calming down
“Because, as part of our plan, we are going to test 50 people to be in an Elite group, only 10 people will make it into the group,We want to test you. We will pretend to surrender but those 10 will be out of the base safely evacuated, they will join them, 5 on both armies, and take them down from the inside.” Matre said to me.
“Just tell me when to be there and were and I will,” I said firmly.
“Training begins at midnight tonight, you will be sleeping in a diffrent room tonight, the alarm in there is set to Midnight, be ready,”
“I will,” I said saluting, I walked out of the room and was escorted by the guards to my new temporary room, I went straight to bed to get as much sleep as possible. Even if it were only 6:00 PM.
Chapter 2
In the Dream
The wind kept blowing harder and harder as I kept trying to climb up the mountain, darkness filled the air with despair and it seemed as if it was hopless, the only way to get to the base. It got colder and colder and soon things started to freeze, I climbed faster but each time I got higher the base got higher as well. It seemed as if it would never end. Colder and colder, my team was starting to freeze, soon I could see nothing but the dark skies and the mountains. My comrads were disapearing. I was fading away myself. I tried climbing higher and higher to escape it all, but it was only killing me. The mountain below me was disapearing. Climb faster and evoid falling, and freeze, climb slower fall and not freeze. Either way I knew I couldn’t escape it.
“Th-th-this…is…m-m-maddness….W-w-why…am…I even…h-h-here…..” I said to myself, my voice started to fade away…. I tried climbing faster and faster untill I couldnt feel my arms and legs, my legs started to disapear as well. My whole life put to shame I excepted the fact that I was going to die and let go of the mountain. Everything below me was fading. I didnt scream, I couldnt. How can you scream when you know it will happen? I just waited. It grew more painfull every second I was falling. I tried reaching for the disapearing mountain. I grabbed a rock only for my hand and that rock to disapear as well. My feet were starting to disapear, then my legs, then the rest followed through. I closed my eyes.
I could here voices, “Except the fact that you are going to die, because you cant avoid it any longer….”
”You have failed me, now you die,” I could swear it was Matre’s voice.
“You abandoned your team, your best friend, how can I call you my leader, when everyone else is dead?” Little whispered.
“Da-amn it…I didn’t want to…I tried so hard.. but in the end….I fa-a-iled….” I tried to say but then as I was falling even my head disapeared.
“No-oo-oo!” I tried screaming, “I CAN’T!” all of the sudden, it felt as if my burdens were doubling on my chest, then even my head disapeared.
The voices kept repeating in my mind, ringing in my ears. “Why did you abandon us? I thought you were my best friend,”
“I DIDN’T WANT TO! I HAD NO CHOICE! EVERYONE IS DEAD! I CANT SAVE THEM! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
I woke up in my bed, “I-it was….o-on-nly…a nightmare,” I stuttered in disbelief. As quick as I woke up I felt a stabbing type feeling in my chest, a knife was wedged into the back of my chest, and I fell to the floor, laughing. “I hate to say it but you have no choice but to die. I cant have you ruining the UMA’s plans.” Toe emerged from the shadows, he swiftly escaped out the window only to be shot by the guards by my door.
Chapter 3
It seemed as I was floating, even before I was taken to the emergancy room. I had just realized why I was laughing…because if I died they were the ones that lost. They wanted us to suffer, but I would be happy were ever I went. It almost makes me wonder if I were better off dead….
“I see your awake,” The medic said.
”Did…Toe… get away?” I asked weekly.
“No he was shot by your guards cause of the laughter.” He said smiling. I would never get used to that smile, it was a suspiciously similar one,none the less my wounds were healing quite nicely. “You will be able to get back to your duties in three days.”
“WHAT?! NO, YOU DONT UNDERSTAND I NEED TO TALK TO MATRE! I NEED TO TALK TO HIM! THAT WONT BE ENOUGH TIME!!!!” I screamed. The guards rushed in.
”What is the problem?!” One guard said
“I NEED TO TALK TO MATRE, IT IS IMPORTANT! YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME!” I screamed at the doctor.
”Calm down now Paint, I will let you talk to Matre,” The doctor said in a calming voice, “I need more guards so the patient can talk to Matre please,” The doctor ordered.
“YES SIR!” shouted a guard.
Ten minutes later a tall man walked in with a suit. “Doctor, I would like you to leave, I will have a guard come and get you once I am done,” Matre said in a deep voice.
“Yes sir,” The doctor walked out still wearing that creepy smile.
“Sir, I can’t need to get out of here sooner for the training!” I said anxiously.
“I know, that is why I have assigned you with a special mission, you will be one of the ten to go out, and, you will lead them,” Matre said.
“Because of my condition? Or… is it something else?” I said with a confused look.
“Because they are after you, if they think you are imprisoned then they will think they have won, so I want you to sneak out with the rest tommorow,” Matre pulled something weird out of his pocket, “Eat this, it will heal you completely, only if it is urgent people get these.”
I ate the the weird looking bean and felt better than ever. “Wow… I wonder why I havent heard of it…” I said
“Dont tell anyone but they are illegal to outsiders that are not in the military. Even low ranks have not seen anything like it.” Matre said in a whisper. “Guards you can call in the doctor now,” Matre said while walking away.
“You can let her out, she wont need any further treatment.” Matre said to the doctor, he nodded and then walked away.
I felt drowsy and all of the sudden I fell asleep, drooling on the pillow, with the lights turned on, and the clouds outside drifting away.
Chapter 4
In the Dream
Clouds were surounding me, and…It seemed as if I was actually walking on them, soft and fluffy clouds, the sensation tingles the very thought that this were heaven. As if all life and its worries had faded away. There I stood, at the golden gates of heaven, were I could finnaly rest, were everything I ever wanted was reality. As soon as I saw it, it all started fading away, I put my hand up and tried to reach for the gates, to finnaly open them, for all of my worries to disapear but it was all in vain. The golden gates started vanishing, and I started falling, down and down, there was no end. It was cruel. Then… the voices started echoing in my head again.
“You let us down, all of us down, now…. YOU SHALL PAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” a demons voice said.
”NO! NO! NOOO! DONT! IT WASNT MY FAULT! I HAD NO CHOICE! I DIDNT WANT THEM TO DIE! IT ISNT FAIR!” I screamed trying to get to them. The faces of my team swirled around in my head all saying the same things.
”Why did you let us down?”
”Why did you let me die?”
”What kind of leader are you?”
“It wasnt my choice!” I screamed
“I didnt want you to die, I didnt want any of you to die! Please! Dont!” tears started coming down my face.
”Please! I tried! I didnt want to fail you!” I sobbed
These voices repeated, they wouldnt stop. I soon was outside of my body and to what looked like the real world. I saw everyone killing eachother. Chaos spread and soon everyone was dead. I collapsed and soon my body was standing right in front of me. I begged for mercy, but even I, in the end killed myself. I reached out my hand to myself and begged and begged but it was killing me. I was killing myself.
”THIS IS WRONG! NO PLEASE DONT!” I kept pleading. No matter how much I plead and begged for mercy I wouldnt stop. “I DIDNT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN!” I said over and over again. “AHHHHHHH!!!!! I SAID………. STOP!” and then everything around me froze except my other self.
”If you want power, take it, let it take your worries away!” My other self said to me.
“NO! I DONT WANT POWER! I WILL BE COME EVIL IF I DESIRE POWER!” I said screaming.
“Then, what is the meaning of life when you dont have enough power to save them all? What will happen when everyone blames you for something you tried to prevent, and have failed? THE TRUE MEANING OF STRENGTH IS NOT PHYSICAL! The true meaning of strength is when you have power, and choose not to use it to get what you want, but to help others in doing good. Heed my words, if you have no true strength then you are nothing. Become more powerful and more strong than you ever have been!” My other self said to me while disapearing. Everything seemed to come clear to me from that moment on. Or…atleast I thought it had.
Chapter 5
“MATRE!” I shouted as I woke up, “Woah…ok I am awake,”
”Oh so your finnaly awake, Well ready to meat your team? The time is up.” Matre said, “We pleaded for one more day, they granted it not knowing of anything, so that is a good thing. We dont have time to train you, but you wouldnt need any training. Trust me.” He said with a tiny smile on his face. I stood up to meet the people in my team.
There stood people I knew very much; Fox, Cat, Speeder, Batin, Toe, Kg, Kenneth,Tuxy,and Bob. “Hai, Long time no see,uhh… but I need to ask, why are Batin and Tuxy here? Arent they retired?” I asked with a confused face.
”They rejoined so they could help out with the war,” Matre said.
“Is that really a problem?” Tuxy asked with a grin.
”No I was just wondering,” I said smiling back.
“Meet in the room on the first right in the East hallway in aproximately 1 hour, dont be late or your off the mission.”
A chorus of “YES SIR”s followed and then they went to their rooms to prepare. I went to my room in the West Hallway, walking by some nervous people. All around the halls you would hear, “No…no…not again…no… I dont want to be taken prisoner,” and, “The UMA are going to kill us all!” and “No! I have a family! They cant take me away!” It was terrible.
”They dont have any faith in themselves huh?” Batin said walking to his room.
”So what made you rejoin?” I asked him.
“The war, I just wanted to help out ya’know.” Batin said grinning.
“You could never wipe that stupid smile off your face, it always creeps me out.” I chuckled.
We went our seperate ways down the hall, paved with white lonesome tiles that reflected your face of despair. It seemed like once you were there you were tied down like a dog that wants freedom so much but the more the dog wanted, the less it got. I got into my room sat down on my bed and started getting ready. “Oh how this is going to be a nightmare,” I said with my face down.
Chapter 6
“It is almost time to go,” I said.
“I Dont think I should do this, I should be leading with Matre, and if I die…well that just wont be good…” Bob said.
”Well… there is one person that could fill in for you Bob..” He said with a smile, “Her name is LittleGuy04,”
“Hai Paint, what are you doing here?” Little asked.
“I think you know exactly why we are here,” I said chuckling.
“Ok She will do I guess. You all seem to know her so it should be fine.” Bob said. His face was down but I knew he made the right decision.
“OK we NEED to hurry up. GET YOUR THINGS AND MEET AT THE BACK ENTRANCE.!” He said shouting, “THAT IS AN ORDER!”We all picked up our bags, strapped them to our backs, and ran. By the time we got to the back entrance Matre was already there, except… Bob was standing in front of him, bleeding, blocking the sniper that almost hit Matre.
“BOB!” Ken yelled out.
“GO ON AHEAD! THEY ARE HERE!” Bob said with his last breath.We ran and ran into the forrest unaware of the dangers ahead that we would face.
“MATRE! GET SOMEWHERE SAFE! AND EVERYONE OUTTA THE AREA!” Fox said shouting as she ran into the forrest with the rest of the group.
We walked through the forrest looking around, we had made a descise, a UMA descise and headed tword the base. “You all know that most of you wont come out a live right? ‘Cause if you think that we are all going to get out alive then you are crazy,” Tuxy said chuckling.
”I really wondered why I accepted this mission… I mean Tuxy is right..” Toe said to himself sweating out of anxiety.
”Well be glad, when we make it back we will be war heroes! If you dont come back alive you did it for the ACP! DONT GIVE UP SOLDIER!” I said with a angry but happy look on my face.
”Guys! There are some Nachos there! Act natural” Cat said.
“What division are you from?” A Nacho said.
“We are from the UMA, you wouldnt need to know.” Fox said to the Nacho.
“I think these people are fake, they know the protocall of saying your division, incase of intruders!” He whispered to the Nacho.
“Lets kill’em” The other Nacho said. He took out his gernade and pulled the pin. I watched as his hand moved.
“GERNADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Speeder yelled.We all got behind cover and started shooting the nachos. The last Nacho fell, as I looked back at that Nacho’s face, his eyes were red, the color of blood….
”SPEEDER! TOE! HID THE BODIES!” I yelled. “WE ARE ALMOST TO THE UMA BASE, LOOK AT YOUR UNIFORM FOR YOUR DIVISION AND ALL OF YOUR SOLDIER INFORMATION!”
Our journey had begun.
Chapter 7
As I walked the rest of the way to the UMA base I thought about what Matre said to me in private, “There will be someone waiting for you at the door, he is also descised as a UMA soldier, you will reconize him by a red spot on their left shoulder, followed by 3 stars and another red spot,” Matre said seriously, “You know him VERY well, his name is-” a bell rang and interupted my flashback.
“OK Let me talk to the guards first, I will handle this,” I said as we aproached the door.
“Show me your ID!” The first guard said angrily.
Matre said that the guard that I will reconize will say, I know her,she is the new recruit, let her and everyone else with her enter.
“I know her, she is the new recruit, let her and everyone else with her enter,” said the guard with a mask on, all of the guards had a mask on. The guard that said it had a red spot on his left shoulder followed by 3 stars and another red dot, it fit Matre’s description perfectly. The guards let us through, and I signalled them to come with me. I followed the guard into our new room. The guard took off his mask and we all gasped.
”JACK?!” We all said in unison.
“What are you doing here Jack?!” Fox said confused, “ARE YOU WORKING WITH THE UMA?!”
“Fox, he is in descise like us,” I said to her calmly.
“If that is so then why werent we told?!” Speeder said angrily.
“Because we have our reasons.” I said.
“Well I have to get back to work, we have a long day tommorow, this will be your room for now, we will come up with a plan tommorow morning, get some sleep.” Jack said with a deep voice.
